My Lexus Mini Camper

This is a roof tent (addition) to a 1990 Lexus ES250. The price was about $1000. When not in use the roof tent can be stored in my apartment closet. I get about 24 MPG and can drive it anywhere.

The tent sleeps two comfortably with a built in mattress. Sleeping bags, pillows, an extra blanket and a 12v heating pad stay in the tent when traveling.

This particular tent opens up over the back so when I open the trunk in the rain I stay dry. I could have mounted the back ladder to the rear bumper and the car could drive (slowly) with the tent on top in case I need to maneuver around the camp site for the best parking.

Shades over the windows keep the camper dry in heavy rain and help keep the camper cool in hot weather. I really like sleeping above the ground too (no worries about rocks, bugs or animals.)

I think this is the most frugal, minimalist but comfortable camper around!

Looks Cool

This really looks like a practical camping solution. I'll think about it. But it does seem to be a great idea!
